San Jose woman injured in climbing accident

A 22-year-old San Jose woman broke both ankles when she fell at Lovers Leap.

Clementina Bures was listed in fair condition Sunday night at Washoe Medical Center in Reno. She was being treated for ankle, elbow and head injuries.

“When the protection fell out, she fell feet first,” said Jeff Michael, Lake Valley Fire Protection District battalion chief.

Bures was 30 feet up the rock wall when her equipment came loose and she went tumbling down. Because she was unconscious for a short time a helicopter was used to take her to the hospital.

Bures was climbing with friends when the accident happened Saturday at 4 p.m.
