Norma Santiago won last week’s election for El Dorado County supervisor by 217 votes, according to the final election results certified by county Registrar Bill Schultz today.

Santiago received 33 percent of the vote, edging out attorney Dennis Crabb, who received 30 percent. Businessman Lou Pierini fetched 28 percent of votes, while 7 percent of voters cast ballots for mobile notary Stephen Reinhard.

Around 6,500 absentee ballots remained to be counted after election night on Nov. 8. Absentees can be turned in up until 8 p.m. of election day, but cannot be counted until signatures are checked.

All other results from the election remained the same, including the school board election and the two snow removal initiatives, both of which failed.

Of 16,111 registered voters in El Dorado County’s District 5, which encompasses the Tahoe portion of the county, 41 percent, or 6,671, came to the polls Nov. 8. About 41 percent of those who voted did so by absentee ballot.
