SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Lake Tahoe Education Foundation and Lake Tahoe Unified School District is already planning to offer the Lake Tahoe Digital Photo Institute at South Tahoe High’s new Tahoe Arts and Design Academy building in Summer 2012. The event is the first event outside of regular school activities planned for the facility, but more will likely be announced, said superintendent Jim Tarwater.

“We have these phenomenal facilities, let’s maximize the use of them,” Tarwater said.

The workshop will take place the weekend of June 29 and will cover camera basics, self-portrait photography, computer-camera interfacing, natural lighting, off-site shooting basics, model photography and more. Sunset and sunrise photo shoots are planned. Beginner through advaced photographers are welcome.

Registration starts March 1, 2012.

The district offers the use of its facilities for various groups and organiza-tions. Application procedures are designed to assist groups and organizations desiring to use school facilities and ensure that the use of the facilities does not conflict with use for school purposes or interfere with regular school or activities. There is a charge for renting the facility depending on the type and length of event.
