Sierra House Elementary School was locked down Wednesday afternoon while police sought an alleged intruder in a nearby home.

A resident of a Musgrave Court residence returned home about 2:30 p.m. and found a man going through her belongings, said El Dorado County Sheriff’s Lt. Pete Van Arnum.

The woman called 911 from a neighbor’s house and sheriff’s deputies, along with California Highway Patrol officers and South Lake Tahoe police, responded to the home and established a perimeter, Van Arnum said.

Law enforcement officers entered the home about 3:15 p.m., found the suspect and arrested Brett Bartee on suspicion of burglary, Van Arnum said. Additional details of the man’s identity were not immediately available.

The school was locked down in case the situation escalated, Van Arnum said.
