School officials to discuss radon
Radon will be discussed at the Lake Tahoe Unified School District Board of Trustees meeting Tuesday.
The trustees will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Education Center Board Room, 1021 Al Tahoe Blvd.
Radon is a naturally occurring gas that can build up to potentially carcinogenic levels in improperly ventilated rooms. Douglas County School District officials recently discussed measures to mitigate effects of the gas at Zephyr Cove Elementary School.
The meeting will include an overview of radon, an explanation of radon mitigation measures already in place and a proposed radon testing schedule for the district’s properties, said Steve Morales, district facilities manager.
