Scout earns Eagle rank

Provided to the Tahoe Daily Tribune. Michael Hash, second from right, is congratulated by Mike Shreve and Marshall Matzinger, both former scoutmasters of Troop 594 in South Lake Tahoe, and Tim Rieger, current scoutmaster, from left.

Michael Hash recently completed the requirements to become the newest Eagle Scout in South Lake Tahoe. Before being awarded the Eagle rank, a Boy Scout must complete a project that benefits the community. Hash’s project involved the painting and renovation of the Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe’s ABC storage facility.

The storage units were left to the Kiwanis Club by Kiwanian Bob Bahnhauser, with the stipulation that the proceeds from the rentals would be used to benefit children in the community. The units were badly in need of repairs and painting, and Michael chose this project because of the great number of children that the Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe supports through their scholarships and other programs.

Hash and the Scouts spent more than 500 hours working on the project.
