Search is on for dog that bit woman

Animal control officials are searching for a dog that bit a woman on April 13.

The woman was walking on the 4000 block of Manzanita Avenue near Stateline when she was approached by a reddish brown, retriever type dog that was with its owner but not leashed. The woman told El Dorado County Animal Control officers that the owner of the dog, “Rick” said she could pet the animal. The dog nipped her drawing blood. The woman believed the animal was perhaps, protecting a pine cone it had in its mouth.

Robert Gerat, senior animal control officer, said both the owner and the woman failed communicate about the dog’s vaccination status. Gerat asks anyone with information about the incident, or the dog, to call animal control at (530) 577-1766.
