Second Saturday at Carson Valley galleries
Things have been changing with the Carson Valley Art Gallery Association. A few galleries have closed, and some new ones will be opening soon. In the meantime, activities still are going on for the March Second Saturday at three galleries.
Activities for March 8 include:
— An artist reception from 3 to 5 p.m. at Artisans International Gallery, 1653 Lucerne St., Minden Village, Minden. Meet many of the local artists represented in the “What Is It?” exhibit and sale, and enjoy light refreshments and wine. The exhibit runs through April 19. (775) 783-8881.
— A watercolor demonstration by Teri Sweeney at Artistic Viewpoints Gallery and Studio, 1368 Highway 395, No. B, Gardnerville. Sweeney will demonstrate negative painting and textural techniques from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be light refreshments. (775) 783-0633.
— A demonstration of mosaic techniques by Janice Powell Shedd from 1 to 3 p.m. at the East Fork Gallery, 1503 Highway 395, Gardnerville. She will create a mosaic out of small pieces of stained glass, then show visitors the final steps of applying grout and sealant. Several examples of mosaics made from sea glass, broken china and pottery will be on display. There will be refreshments. (775) 782-7629.
— Another gallery to visit while in the Carson Valley is Lone Tree Gallery, 1598 Esmeralda Ave., Minden. (775) 782-2522.
