Secret Witness marks 30 years in northern Nevada

RENO – Law enforcement and community leaders in northern Nevada are marking 30 years of Secret Witness, the anonymous crime-fighting tip line that has helped solve hundreds of crimes.

Among those were 30 murders that were solved with the help of people who called and left information leading to the arrest of suspects.

Retired Sparks Police commander Ken Lightfoot says the program gives people a way to offer information without getting caught up in the police investigation.

Lightfoot now serves as vice chairman of Secret Witness, which offers rewards for information about unsolved crimes.
