Seminars cover green building at Lake Tahoe

LAKE TAHOE ” The city of South Lake Tahoe and Sierra Pacific Power Co. are offering two free seminars on green building for builders, architects, engineers, designers and owner-builders.

“Certified Green” will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon March 26 at Quality Inn & Suites, 3838 Lake Tahoe Blvd. Those at the workshop will learn what it takes to build a certified green home. Benefits of a green home include lower energy and water bills; reduced greenhouse gas emissions; and less exposure to mold, mildew and other indoor toxins, according to organizers of the session.

Topics include: water efficiency, sustainable resources and materials, indoor environmental quality, and the certification process for green home programs.
