Senior counseling offered

Provided to the Tribune

People 55 and older can now get counseling at no cost in South Lake Tahoe.

The counseling is provided by Arlene Hayward, the county older adults clinician for Tahoe, as well as senior peer counselors.

The senior peer counselors have completed a 60-hour training course in counseling techniques. Reasons for counseling may include grief, stress, anxiety, depression, loneliness, life changes, caregiver stress and relocation dilemmas.

The counselors meet with clients individually at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd. They also provide home visits for people with mobility problems.

Anyone interested in the program should call Arlene Hayward at (530) 573-7800.
