Senior fitness classes planned

Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department is introducing free senior fitness classes. The objective is to increase motivation, stamina, flexibility and strength, while making fitness a fun habit. Students will learn proper use of weight room equipment with regard to body alignment and mechanics.

The senior fitness class will meet from 8 to 9 a.m. each Tuesday beginning Jan. 7 at Kahle Community Center, 236 Kingsbury Grade. Advance registration is required no later than Jan. 5 by calling (775) 586-7271 or visiting the center. All students 55 years and older must present a note from their doctor permitting them to exercise.

Senior Basketball Club takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Monday. Pass holders can participate free or the drop-in fee is $6.



The Senior Walking Club will meet at 9 a.m. each Wednesday beginning Jan. 9 in the lobby of Kahle Community Center. Participants will walk outside weather permitting or on the indoor track.
