Senior swimming to be held in Douglas County

Douglas County Senior Services will host the Northern Nevada Senior Games swimming competition Aug. 18 at the Carson Valley Swim Center, 1600 State Route 88 in Minden, Nev.

Warm-ups will begin at 8 a.m. with competition getting under way at 9 a.m. Events will include 50, 100, 200 and 400 freestyle; 50 and 100 breaststroke; 50 and 100 fly; 50 and 100 backstroke; and 100 yard individual medley.

The Northern Nevada Senior Games are open to men and women age 49 and over. Age groups are separated with each five years of age. Winners will be awarded Olympic-style medals for first- second- and third-place finalists.



All entrants are invited to participate in the Vestin Nevada Seniors Games State Championships Sept. 27 through Oct. 7 at Las Vegas, Nev. Qualifiers from the Del Mar Games may participate in the National Games.

The registration fee is $15 per athlete. A single fee permits participants to enter all sports for the remainder of the Senior Games schedule with the exception of golf. Registration deadline is Aug. 16.
