Seven candidates apply for open City Council seat

Adam Jensen

The four members of the South Lake Tahoe City Council will have plenty of people to choose from when possibly selecting someone to fill the seat of former Mayor Claire Fortier next week.

Kathay Lovell, Austin Sass, Bill Crawford, Scott Valentine, Howard Bittner, Brooke Laine and Bruce Grego have each applied for the nearly two-year appointment, according to information from City Clerk Susan Alessi.

The deadline for submitting applications for the appointment is Friday at 5 p.m. Applications for each candidate will be available on the city’s website following the close of business Friday, according to an email from Alessi.

The council is scheduled to discuss and possibly select an appointee to the seat at a special meeting starting 9 a.m. Tuesday. The meeting will take place at Lake Tahoe Airport.
