Sewer-lateral ordinance is approved

Adam Jensen

The South Tahoe Public Utility District Board passed an ordinance clarifying responsibility for sewer laterals Thursday.

The board passed the ordinance 3-1, with board member Jim Jones being the lone no vote. Board member Eric Schafer was absent.

Repairs to sewer laterals between the boundary of a property and the main are the district’s responsibility under the new ordinance.

Property owners still are responsible for maintenance, such as removing clogs, along the entire length of the laterals.
