Sewing Bee sponsored by the Friends of the Library

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Join the new Sewing Bee at 10 a.m. April 9 at the South Lake Tahoe branch library, at 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd., to make donations for Hope4Women International’s Dress A Girl Around the World Campaign

Help make cute and simple dresses from pillowcases that will be donated to Hope4Women International’s Dress A Girl Around the World Campaign.

More than 14,000 dresses have been donated to 30 countries around the world since 2009.

Each dress requires a new or gently used pillowcase, packages of 1⁄4-inch to 1⁄2-inch-wide elastic, a package of 1⁄2-inch double-wide bias tape.

Those attending should bring a sewing machine, irons and supplies. Space limits this to 10 sewing machines and 2 irons, so register at the front desk of the library or call 530-573-3185.

No sewing experience required. Help is still needed for cutting patterns and ironing.
