Sgt. Timothy Smith remembered at Sierra

A celebration of life service for Sgt. Timothy “Timmy” Smith, who died on April 7, 2008 in Iraq, was at Sierra-at-Tahoe ski resort, with more than 50 attending.

The 2001 graduate of South Tahoe High School was killed in Iraq by a roadside bomb. He was the first South Lake Tahoe native to become a casualty of the war.

A plaque in his honor was placed, surrounding family and friends.
