Sheriff seeks clues in murder

by Timothy Bowman

Additional details have been released on the body that was found on the northeast side of Fallen Leaf Road Monday afternoon.

The victim, whose identity is unknown, is described as a white female from 35 to 40-years-old. She was wearing a gray and white pin-stripped suit with a vest and turquoise turtleneck. The 5 feet 7 inch woman had reddish-brown hair and wire rimmed glasses.

Cause of death appears to be a single gunshot wound at an undisclosed location of her body. The incident is being investigated as a murder.

The body was discovered by a South Lake Tahoe man who was at Fallen Leaf Lake looking for a place to fish.

Investigators closed off Fallen Leaf Road north of Tahoe Mountain Road Monday night and searched the area for evidence into early Tuesday morning.

According to El Dorado Sheriff’s Detective Tom Hill, the body was intact except for the gunshot wound. The body showed little decomposition and had not been tampered with by animals leading investigators to believe the shooting had occurred recently.

It still has not been determined whether the shooting occurred at Fallen Leaf Lake or if the body was left there by a suspect.
