Shooting victim is improving but still fighting fever and infection

South Lake Tahoe resident Eric Domingo continues to battle fever and infection in Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno after being shot in the face earlier this month.

Doctors also may insert a feeding tube into his stomach as early as today because nerve damage has hindered Domingo’s ability to swallow, said Domingo’s mother, Judy Domingo. She added that her son is not receiving enough nutrition through a nasal feeding tube.

“He’s so weak from not eating,” Judy Domingo said Wednesday. “His eating is an issue that’s a very serious problem.”

But the former South Tahoe High School football player also has shown some signs of improvement. Doctors now list Eric Domingo in stable condition, and his mother said he is talking “somewhat better.”

“It’s just going to be a long haul for him,” Judy Domingo said.

Donations to help pay for Eric Domingo’s medical expenses are being accepted at all El Dorado Savings Bank locations. The savings account number is 18000697, family members said.
