Shooting victim recovering at home

After returning home from Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno on Thursday, South Lake Tahoe resident Eric Domingo continues to recover from a gunshot wound he sustained Feb. 9.

“He’s improving every day,” said his father, Stephen Domingo. “He’s walking, conversing.”

The South Tahoe High School graduate still is having difficulty swallowing and is being fed through a tube connected to his stomach, said his mother, Judy Domingo.

Still, Eric Domingo’s recuperation has been progressing faster than most initially expected.

“His recovery was remarkable. The nurses couldn’t believe it,” Stephen Domingo said. “It was a miracle. The Lord gave him a second chance, and he has something in store for (Eric). He had a lot of support from the community, and we thank them all.”

Eric Domingo, 21, was shot below the eye at a home on Tamarack Avenue shortly before 8 a.m. Feb. 9.

A former STHS basketball teammate of Domingo’s, Casey Curcie-Crummett, 20, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a firearm in connection with the shooting.

Curcie-Crummett is set to be arraigned in El Dorado County Superior Court on March 19.
