The Tahoe Area Sierra Club will meet from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the fire station on Elks Point Road in Round Hill. Refreshments will be ready by 6:20 p.m., so come early.

Everyone is welcome to attend the event that will explore “How Green is Green, and What Does It Mean.” The topic will cover green buildings, green recreating and green landscaping and will provide an opportunity to learn what it means to be green together.

Heather Segale, education/outreach coordinator for the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center, will be a special guest. The research center is aiming to be the only leadership in energy and environmental design platinum-certified building in the world with research laboratories.

Another special guest will be Scott Terrell, a representative of the Sierra Green Building Association. SIGBA was created to advise and be a resource to all who live in the central and northern Sierra Nevada and all methods and aspects of green building.

Green building incorporates architectural design, renewable materials, energy efficiency and native landscaping.
