Sierra Recovery Center seeking more funds

The board of directors of Sierra Recovery Center has been focusing its fund-raising efforts during the past several months on one goal — trying to raise $10,000. Members are attempting to obtain donations in order to maximize their contributions to the El Dorado Community Foundation. The foundation allows a one-time opportunity for SRC to obtain matching funds, up to $10,000, through the foundation’s endowment program. All funds must be raised by the end of December.

The board has been actively raising funds this fall, with its biggest event being the Java, Jazz and Sweets event at Valhalla in October. In spite of their efforts they are currently about $3,000 short of their goal.

“It is important that we raise these funds by the end of the year. It is our hope that associates, friends of Sierra Recovery Center, and community members who would like to show their support of SRC might be willing to make a contribution,” said Davey Paiva, fund-raising chair.

Donations are tax deductible and will help support the many community and family programs sponsored by SRC. These programs include outpatient counseling, two transitional living homes, and a residential treatment center. The mission of SRC is to provide comprehensive programs for recovery and education, and to improve the quality of life for individuals, families and members of the community who are affected by alcohol and other drugs.

Anyone wishing to make a donation or for further information on endowment program or services offered by Sierra Recovery Center may call SRC at (530) 541-5190.2
