Sign ordinance gets special meeting

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The City Council will hold a special meeting to discuss South Lake Tahoe’s sign ordinance starting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, said city spokeswoman Nancy Kerry in an email.

The meeting will be held to discuss changes to the ordinance proposed by city staff, including allowing advertising on buses and taxi cabs, changeable message signs, very limited use of sandwich boards and light backgrounds on signs that have exterior lighting.

The council will discuss the sign ordinance at the special meeting after being unable to get to the item Tuesday.

The council could take action on the ordinance at the meeting, but the purpose is to discuss sign ordinance in general, Kerry said.

The meeting will be held in council chambers at Lake Tahoe Airport.
