Silk painter to discuss self-publishing
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Silk painter Addie Chernus will give a presentation for the Tahoe Art League from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Chernus’ presentation will include showing her art and discussing the work involved in publishing her recent book and DVD.
Chernus is a resident of South Lake Tahoe. She has traveled in Mexico and has lived in Europe and Canada. She enjoys plein air and studio painting, and especially silk painting.
Silk painting is similar to watercolor painting, using a stretched “canvas” of Habotai silk and silk dyes, in place of watercolors. A gutta resist is used to keep the dyes within the design.
For years Chernus has created her own numerous art originals, won many awards and taught others to create silk paintings. She has self published a book along with her husband Mike titled “Addie Silk Art: Silk Painting Lessons by Addie Chernus.” Her book can be ordered from Dharma Trading Co., http://www.dharmatrading.com. Most recently the two produced a painting-lessons DVD.
Chernus is also responsible for the silk painting open studio for the Art League on Tuesday mornings.
