Silver Lake Cleanup scheduled

The annual Silver Lake Cleanup is scheduled Sept. 15. The event will begin at 9 a.m. when volunteers will meet in the parking lot of Kay’s Silver Lake Resort, right of State Route 88 at Silver Lake.

Silver Lake is located on State Route 88, 52 miles east of Jackson, 35 miles southwest of Lake Tahoe and 5 miles west of Kirkwood. The event is sponsored for a few local people who desire to help preserve the beauty of Silver Lake. Volunteers arriving later in the morning are always welcome and someone will be available to send them to a site on the lakeshore to clean.

A barbecue for volunteers and the public will begin at 11 a.m. and burgers, veggie burgers and hot dogs will be available for $1 each. A drawing for prizes donated by local businesses will take place for all volunteers at 2 p.m.
