Singer to perform at potluck
April 28, 2005
Everyone is invited to the South Lake Tahoe Senior Citizens Inc. potluck meeting and entertainment beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd. Ashleigh Petrell will entertain with acting, dancing and singing songs from several of her favorite musicals.
Born in South Lake Tahoe, Petrell’s interest in performing began with acting and dancing at the age of 3. She trained in dance at the Marcia Sarosik Dance Studio for many years, which is where she learned to love the stage. By the time she was 8, she was directing and choreographing musical reviews for the Lake Tahoe Children’s Musical Theater Company with her mother, Dee Petrell. She then started taking voice lessons from Mark D. Williams at Lake Tahoe Community College. In addition to performing, Petrell has taught acting, singing and dancing in the Children’s Performing Arts Program and the Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe.
Petrell has sung and acted in more than 25 productions around Lake Tahoe and in other cities. She was last seen in the LTCC production of “The Matchmaker” as Minnie Fay. Other recent roles include Juliet in “Romeo and Juliet” at the Brewery Arts Center and Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz” with the Western Nevada Musical Theater Company in Carson City. Currently, she is rehearsing for her role as Little Red Ridinghood in “Into the Woods,” which will be performed on the weekends beginning June 9 and June 17 at LTCC.
People who are coming to the potluck are asked to bring their own plate and utensils as well as their favorite food dish for six to eight people.
Members of South Lake Tahoe Senior Citizens Inc. attending the potluck and entertainment can win a $25 door prize. Guests are welcome and everyone can wish cash prizes.
