Matt Andrew and Jonathan Shields, both seniors at Whittell High School, have been selected for the 2006 Nevada All-State Choir. They will attend all-state from March 30 through April 1 in Reno.

All high schools in the state of Nevada are eligible to participate. Before students are able to audition they must be in high standing in their school choir. They must do a live audition and be selected into the Regional Honor Choir. Only those students in the regional choir may audition for the Nevada All-State Choir.

The all-state audition is done live in front of two judges who test only the best high school voices in the state of Nevada. The students are required to sing an octet, a solo and intervals as well as sing back a melody after hearing it only once. They also sight read notes and rhythms and sing the chromatic scale using solfege syllables.
