Skateathon to help animals

The Cold Nose, Warm Heart Skate-a-Thon to benefit the Lake Tahoe Humane Society and S.P.C.A. will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 15 at the South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Skaters can sponsor themselves for $25 or more or get friends, family and businesses to sponsor them to raise the most money for the animals. Registration includes rental skates, ice pass and one raffle ticket. Participants who wear whiskers and/or a tail will get an event T-shirt, too.

The event includes the raffle plus awards for most laps skated and most money raised. Prizes include hockey jerseys, skate passes, dinners, lift tickets, T-shirts and more. 100 percent of proceeds help local Tahoe pets in need.

Call (530) 577-4521 for sponsor collection forms and bring donations to the event.
