Ski season kicks off, apres ski tips abound

Thanksgiving week comes to a close, but don’t worry — it is not quite the end of eating season (my favorite season) just yet. The holidays are in full swing and winter weather is starting to show itself, which means tasty hot drinks and meals are sure to be on menus wherever you go. And you can’t forget about Christmas goodies, either! With so much joy in the air, organizations are starting to host winter festivities like the Festival of Trees and Lights. Learn more on page 7. There’s a lot to look forward to at the end of November!

Here are some additional hot picks for the week:

1. Breweries Abound

The craft brewery scene is on the rise in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Which place offers the best drink for you? Amelia Richmond offers her thoughts.

Get educated on the best of Tahoe beer on page 4.

2. Blues in the basin

If Georgia-based blues musician Tinsley Ellis’ performance at the North Shore’s Crystal Bay Club Casino Friday doesn’t quench your thirst for the blues, you’re in luck. The legendary Elvin Bishop takes the stage at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe on Saturday, one day after Ellis.

Turn to page 6 for more.

3. The Polar Express

Nothing says Christmas quite like Chris Van Allsburg’s classic tale, which comes to life on the V&T Railroad from Nov. 17 through Dec. 23. Take a trip to the North Pole on the one-of-a-kind engine, which includes a visit from Santa Claus himself.

More details are available on page 11.
