Skier dies at Squaw Valley after colliding with a tree
LAKE TAHOE ” A 52-year-old Truckee man has died after skiing into a tree at Squaw Valley.
Resort spokeswoman Savannah Cowley says the skier, James Taylor, struck a tree Monday morning below the Headwall chairlift.
Ski patrollers brought Taylor to a medical center at the base of the mountain. He then was taken by helicopter to Renown Medical Center in Reno, where a spokeswoman said he was pronounced dead.
Taylor designed Jet Lites, a lighting system for cyclists, at a Truckee-based company.
