Skyland organizing neighborhood watch group

Because of recent burglaries in the Douglas County region of Lake Tahoe, the Skyland General Improvement District in Zephyr Cove has appointed a new ad hoc committee to organize a neighborhood watch group.

Resident Ann Grant has volunteered to organize the watch group for the committee. Block captains have volunteered on every street in Skyland to keep watch for any suspicious activity and to report anything to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. A letter is being mailed to every homeowner asking them to participate.

The sheriff’s office advises that many Lake Tahoe neighborhoods have experienced burglaries or other crimes of opportunity. With greater neighbor-to-neighbor involvement, Skyland homeowners want to eliminate that chance of opportunity.

For more information, contact Grant at (775) 588-0641.
