SLTPD Explorers take eight of 15 trophies in competition

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The South Lake Tahoe Police Explorers competed from Sept. 23-25 at the Central Coast Law Enforcement Explorer Competition in Paso Robles, Calif.

The Explorer Scouts trained for months in preparation for the event.

The Explorer team consisted of Explorer Commander Joey Acker, Explorer Sergeant Jose Silva, Explorer Allison Roberts, Explorer Hector Vasquez, and Explorer Chelsie Tate.

The Police Explorers competed in 15 events against about 600 explorers from Police, Highway Patrol and Sheriff’s Departments from all over California, Arizona and Nevada.

The South Lake Tahoe Police Explorers brought home trophies in eight of the 15 events:

• Crime Scene Investigation, first place.

• Tug-of-war, second place.

• Night Time Suspicious Person Investigation, third place

• Hazardous Response, third place

• Crisis Negotiations, fourth place

• Bicycle Cycle Course, fourth place

• Night Time Traffic Stop. fifth place

• Fifth Best Explorer Post overall (48 teams in competition).
