SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Two young girls were seen running from a small fire that broke out near Bijou Golf Course on Thursday evening, said South Lake Tahoe Fire Marshall Ray Zachau on Friday.

Dispatchers received a report of the fire about 5:30 p.m. and firefighters from the South Lake Tahoe Fire Department, the U.S. Forest Service and Lake Valley Fire Protection District were able to quickly suppress the fire, Zachau said.

The fire burned a downed log and did not present a real threat of spreading, Zachau said.

The fire was human-caused.

Although firefighters have a description of the girls seen running from the site of the fire, they were not able to locate them, Zachau said.
