Preschool Story Time has resumed at the South Lake Tahoe Branch Library at 11 a.m. every Friday.

The theme today will be bears and a special guest will make an appearance.

“Smokey Bear really likes small children so he said he would be happy to put off his hibernation to talk to the children about fire prevention,” said Jan McGowan, the assistant children’s librarian.

A ranger will accompany Smokey for the discussion.

The fall schedule of Story Time features a nine-week session that will run through Nov. 18.

This fall, Story Time themes also include trains, frogs, pets, friends, snakes, snow and the fall season.

Special Halloween and Thanksgiving Story Times will include surprises and treats. Programs are designed for preschool age children, 3 to 5 years old, and include stories, crafts, felt board stories, hand plays and much more. Preschool Story Time is held every Friday at 11 a.m. in the library’s meeting room.

The South Lake Tahoe Branch Library is located at 1000 Rufus Allen Boulevard. The library is open Tuesday and Wednesday 10 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10 to 5 p.m.
