A winter storm now beginning to hit the Lake Tahoe Basin means snow for ski resorts, with Sierra-at-Tahoe rejoicing today with the ring: “Game On.”

So far this afternoon the resort has fetched about 4 to 5 inches of snow in the base area, elevation 7,300 feet. Much more is expected.

“We’re expecting another 12 to 18 inches out of this storm which could continue all the way until Saturday. We’re anxious to begin turning our lifts and will do so as soon as conditions allow,” said Kirstin Cattell, communications manager for the resort.
