Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra recently awarded 14 organizations, projects, and programs with funding from its Community Grant program. The mission of the organization is to strengthen and enhance the lives of women and youth in the community and the world. The following organizations/programs/projects best aligned with this mission: Between Horses and Humans, Bijou Kindergarten Adventure Introduction, Bijou fifth-grade Enrichment Field Trip, Health Talents International/Guatemala Project, Girl Scouts Leadership program, Girls On The Run, Kahle Community Center, Lake Tahoe Reading Council, SOS Outreach, St. Joseph’s Land Trust/Low-Income Rental Assistance Program, Tahoe Turning Point, Tahoe Valley Performing Arts/Disney Aladdin, Tahoe Valley Get In The Act Science Theater Workshop, and Tahoe Youth and Family Services. The funding for the grant program is made possible from money raised at the annual Elegant Evening Fundraising Event. Tickets to this year’s event on April 18, at Harrah’s, are available online at
