Soroptimists are now accepting grant applications

Applications are currently available for Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe Foundation’s 2009-2010 Community Service Grants program.

Community organizations are encouraged to submit creative grant proposals that will create a lasting benefit for women and/or youth in the community. Deadline for receipt of applications is Oct. 30.

Most noted for its annual food and wine tasting fundraiser, “The Best of Tahoe,” Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe Foundation is also known for service to the community. Throughout the years, the service club has become increasingly effective in raising and creatively distributing funds among various organizations within the community, as well as donating time and effort toward these projects.

The Community Service Grants program began in 1997 as an equitable way for the club to award funding requests received from many worthy community groups.

By receiving and reviewing applications at one time each year, all applications compete on an equal footing.

Applications can be downloaded and printed from the club Web site, http://www.sislt.org (click on “Grant Allocation Request Form”). They may also be picked up at the office of Dr. Nicole M. Jane, DDS, upstairs at 965 Tahoe Keys Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe.

For more information, contact Dr. Nicole Jane at (530) 318-1313 or e-mail her at njane@umich.edu.
