Soroptimists offer funding for garden dome project

Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe has committed $25,000 from the 2012-13 Community Service Grant funds to the Sierra House Garden Dome project.

The funds will be held for up to 18 months, while permits and school district approval is secured, according to a press release.

The project which will enable students and the greater community to learn about food production, nutritional awareness and principles of sustainability and environmental stewardship. The Soroptimist grant will cover the entire cost of one Garden Dome Kit. The eventual goal of the project is to erect garden domes at all schools within the district, the release stated.



This year’s recipients were selected from more than 10 applicants. Members of the SISLT Community Grant Allocations Committee reviewed all of the qualified applications and selected finalists whose applications were evaluated by the entire club.
