Soroptomist International awards scholarships

Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra recently honored middle school, high school and community college students and their parents during a special breakfast meeting.

Achievement Awards were presented to Amy Jones and Colin Stromberg, Kingsbury Middle School and Elyse Jones and Marcale Jones, South Tahoe Middle School.

The High School Achievement Award for Most Improved Senior went to Bradley Ross and Brittan Ramsey, South Tahoe High School.



The 2001 Academic Scholarship recipients are:

$800 each to Graham St. Michel and Amirhossein “Amir” Misahi, South Tahoe High School; $1,000 each to Sidonie “Sid” Xavier and Tammy Cowen, South Tahoe High School; $1,000 to Emily Cox, George Whittell High School ; $400 to Andreya Brownell, Lake Tahoe Community College; and $400 to Andreya Brownell, LTCC Continuing Education.



The Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra committee of 11 evaluated 78 scholarship application in making the final selections. In addition, the club honored high school juniors and seniors and middle school students that are “most improved” with small monetary awards.
