South Lake Tahoe Fire Department gets into holiday spirit

Staff reports

It’s that holiday time of year and the South Lake Tahoe Fire Department is encouraging the community to think of the less fortunate members of our community.

All city fire stations are now accepting donations of new or like-new toys for the Christmas Cheer barrels. All donations will be forwarded to needy households this holiday season.

The city fire department will again be handing out candy canes from a decorated fire truck driving throughout the community nightly through Dec. 24. The truck leaves Station 2 each night at 5 p.m. and will drive through each neighborhood until 8 p.m. These scheduled dates will be dependent on the weather, and may be changed due to driving conditions or emergency responses.

Visitors can also stop by Santa’s House at Fire Station 2 across from South Tahoe Middle School Dec. 13 to 21 from 6 to 8 p.m.
