SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — A man was injured and a lane of Highway 50 in front of Grocery Outlet after a bicycle crash that was initially reported as a motorcycle crash to authorities Sunday afternoon.

A motor vehicle was not believed to have been involved in the incident, which was later reported as solely a bicycle crash, according to Sallie Ross-Filgo of the South Lake Tahoe Fire Department (SLTFD).

The bicycle rider required medical attention and was transported to Barton Memorial Hospital. It was not clear what the extent of the rider’s injuries were.

The SLTFD responded to the call with an engine, a squad vehicle, an ambulance and a battalion rig.

A section of the roadway was closed off momentarily, between 2:30 p.m. and 2:55 p.m., but was cleared soon after the rider was transported to the hospital.
