A 19-year-old man wanted on a Southern California murder warrant was arrested Wednesday while on his way to class at Lake Tahoe Community College, police said.

South Lake Tahoe police arrested Weston Thomas McCahon, 19, without incident around 1:15 Wednesday in the Al Tahoe area, said Detective David Allen.

Allen was contacted Tuesday by detectives in Los Angeles County, who learned McCahon – a suspect in the murder of a 20-year-old Southern California woman – was living in the South Lake Tahoe area.

A $1 million murder warrant was issued in West District Malibu court for McCahon, according to a jail booking report.

“The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department had a general idea where he lived. Our investigation revealed where he lived. We waited for him to leave the house because we knew he had a 1:30 p.m. class at the college,” Allen said.

McCahon was arrested on his bicycle and taken to the El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe. Nine officers assisted in the investigation and arrest, Allen said.
