South Lake Tahoe Warm Room set to open Thursday
The South Lake Tahoe Warm Room is set to open for the winter in a new location, the Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless recently announced.
The coalition secured and renovated space at 2179 Lake Tahoe Blvd. The opening is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15. The Warm Room provides emergency winter shelter to our homeless neighbors, while supporting them with simple hot food and beverages, warm beds, access to social workers and resource referrals.
In the 2015-16 pilot season, the Warm Room served 107 guests and four families, providing 1,620 nights of shelter to individuals in need, according to a press release.
TCH is actively seeking donations of supplies and funds for its operations. Visit TahoeHomeless.org to donate, or mail checks payable to TCH at P.O. Box 13514, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96151.
