A 19-year-old South Lake Tahoe woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on State Route 89 early Saturday morning, March 26.
Emergency responders received a report of a crash near Pope Beach about 3:40 a.m. Saturday, said El Dorado County sheriff’s Lt. Jim Byers. Initial reports indicate Jillian Pruitt was driving a Honda Accord northbound on 89 when she crossed over the southbound lane and collided with a tree, Byers said. Pruitt, the lone occupant in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s office and California Highway Patrol are investigating the crash and have not determined a cause. Drugs or alcohol are not immediately suspected in the crash. Autopsy results, including toxicology, are pending, Byers said.
