South Lake Tahoe Yacht Club publishes recipe book for charity

Provided to the TribuneThe South Lake Tahoe Yacht Club has made book called "Our Favorite Recipes" to benefit local nonprofits.

The South Lake Tahoe Yacht Club has announced its first publishing endeavor – a book called “Our Favorite Recipes.”

The purpose of this project is to put the members’ treasured recipes into an easy-to-use collection that supports favorite local charities. The club board has decided all profits this year will be directed to the Boys & Girls Club, CASA and the South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center.

Recipes come from the numerous gourmet cooks and restaurant owners that comprise the yacht club membership.

Recipes include favorites from Evans, Nepheles, Teps Villa Roma and the Cantina. Many recipes have been passed down for generations.

The pages are printed in both black and white and color, with a focus on the natural beauty of Lake Tahoe. Original drawings by local artist and club member Nancy Farmer add a unique touch to the recipe pages.

The book also includes a special section in the recipe book devoted to local businesses that have contributed a recipe and made a donation to have a business card displayed in the recipe book, including Black Bear Inn, Sorensens, Lake Tahoe Chocolate Factory and Ernie’s.

The donation for each book is $20. For ordering information, e-mail or; or call Sharon at (530) 545-0065, or Jerry at (530) 541-1120. Information is also available at
