South Lake woman reports sexual assault

Staff reports

A 24-year-old South Lake Tahoe woman was abducted around 9:30 p.m. Saturday while walking home from a work-related interview in the Stateline area.

Her estranged boyfriend pulled up along side the road and offered her a ride. The woman refused the ride, but the man, a 21-year-old resident of South Lake Tahoe, persisted in following her until she got into the car with him. He drove her into Nevada and would not let her out of the vehicle. He then took her to an apartment on the 2400 block of Ponderosa Avenue where he sexually assaulted her. She escaped Sunday morning and called the police.

The man was arrested Sunday for rape, false imprisonment, kidnapping and violation of probation. He is being held without bail at the El Dorado County Jail.
