South Shore fire departments collect relief funds for their New York colleagues

Staff reports

South Shore fire departments are doing their part to raise funds for fallen and injured firefighters, who responded to the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York.

n All three South Lake Tahoe Fire departments are accepting monetary donations, which will be sent directly to the New York Fire Department Relief Fund. Donations will be collected through Monday morning, as the departments want to get the money to New York as soon as possible.

n The South Lake Tahoe Fire Department also is joining Lake Valley Fire Protection District and Cal Tahoe in “Passing the Helmut” for the families of fallen firefighters. Three donation stations will be set up at the following locations: Pioneer Trail and U.S. Highway 50, Raley’s at the “Y” and Safeway on Johnson Blvd.

n Tahoe-Douglas Fire Protection District also plans to collect donations and likely will set up in the casino area at Stateline.
