South Shore Tahoe library and book news for April 18-21, 2009

The Douglas County Public Library in Minden is offering free employment assistance on Saturday, April 25, from noon to 3 p.m. Michelle Garton will work one-on-one with job seekers to help with resume preparation, cover letters, mock interviews, on-line job searches and on-line applications.

Advance appointments are required; they begin at noon and each lasts 30 minutes. Participants are asked to bring employment/resume information.

Additional appointments are available on the following Saturdays: May 16 and May 30.

” Saturday, April 18: Teens are invited to a showing of the new hit vampire movie, “Twilight,” at 1 p.m. Make crafts and enjoy snacks during this free program sponsored by Friends of the Library.

” Tuesday, April 21: CALSTAR air ambulance service and the American Red Cross are special guests of the Friends of the Library, 6 p.m.

Those who would like to learn how to get an article, book or screenplay published are invited to “Writers Who Wine,” presented by the Lake Tahoe branch of The National League of American Pen Women.

The event is on April 23, from 6-7:30 p.m, at Picchetti Winery, 3135 Harrison Ave., in South Lake Tahoe. Admission is free and the event is open to both men and women.
