South Shore wedding for local woman and police officer

Tamara Michelle Garton and Terry Joseph McDermott have announced their engagement and are making plans to be married May 3 at St. Theresa Catholic Church.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Rhonda and Michael McFarlane of South Lake Tahoe and John Garton of El Segundo, Calif. She graduated from South Tahoe High School in 1996, and received a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and theater from the University of Southern California in 2000. She is currently a graduate student in elementary education at the University of Montana, Missoula and is employed as a news reporter with KPAX-TV (CBS.) She is an assistant leader for Brownie Troop 659.

The future bridegroom is the son of Terry and Joanne Boston and Leo McDermott of Missoula. He is a graduate of Victor High School, Victor, Mont., and received a bachelor’s degree in sociology and criminology from the University of Montana 2002. He is a police officer with the Missoula Police Department.
