Food, drink, raffle prizes and a silent auction that includes season passes at Kirkwood and Sierra-at-Tahoe will be part of the second annual Tahoe Winter Expo tonight at Caesars Tahoe from 6 to 9 p.m.

More than 50 South Shore businesses – including ski resorts, restaurants, clubs, an ice cream shop and wine vendors – will set up booths in the casino’s convention center to let people know what South Shore will offer this winter.

Don’t expect a stuffy, business networking event.

“There’s lot of energy and excitement,” said Brittany Clelan, a member of Core 24 Charities, the organization holding the event. “We’re trying for it not tobe for businesses to network with other businesses. It’s a fun party for people to come and check out the scene.”

All the money raised by the event will benefit charitable causes at South Shore.

A portion of the more than $10,000 raised last year is on track to provide funding for an irrigation system for the landscaped walkway between Ski Run Boulevard and Park Avenue, Clelan said.

Money available from last year and money raised this year will be awarded as grants to charities who apply for the funding.

“We’re throwing a party that’s educational in nature so people can have a good time and raise money for the community,” said Matt Krystofiak, chairman of Core 24 Charities.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at door.

A ticket to the event also offers $10 match play at Caesars Tahoe gaming tables and a 2-for-1 drink coupon for Stone St. Bar & Grill.

If you are 21 or older, a ticket to the Expo gets you into Club Nero for free and includes two-for-one drink specials.

In general, the atmosphere is laid back and designed for locals, Clelan said.

“What we’re trying to bring back is a sense of community at South Shore and winter is great time for locals to get out and see what local businesses are doing for the visitors that are here,” Clelan said.
